Vengankudi Village Adoption Programme

Mannachanallur Block, Tiruchirappalli District, Tamil Nadu Supported by Arise Investments and Capital Private Limited · Implemented by COROAT · December 2025 – March 2026

For years, the teachers of Government Adi Dravidar Welfare School in Vengankudi had a quiet humiliation to carry — when they attended district-level trainings, colleagues would pass remarks implying their school was poor and neglected. The children knew it too. In March 2026, when Class 5 student Priyadharshi walked into his newly painted classroom and said "it feels like a private school now," something had shifted — not just in the building, but in how an entire community saw itself. The Vengankudi Village Adoption Programme, implemented by COROAT with CSR support from Arise Investments and Capital Private Limited, addressed four interconnected community needs identified through field assessments in November–December 2025. By 12 March 2026, all four were delivered. Over 1,600 residents of Vengankudi Panchayat benefited directly and indirectly.

School Renovation — Restoring Institutional Dignity

Classrooms and ceilings at the Government Adi Dravidar Welfare Primary and High Schools were fully repainted, a new covered shed with fan facilities constructed, and furniture, speaker system, and school materials procured — executed by JVK Enterprises with NSNOP approvals. A Tamil teacher said it best: "Now nobody would say that. Our school is no longer a vulnerable school. We stand with dignity."

Women's Digital Literacy — Skills That Open Doors

A 100-hour Digital Literacy programme with Tamil Nadu Computer Science College covered MS Office, internet use, e-payments, and Canva. Of 20 enrolled, 14 completed — 8 achieved Distinction, 4 First Class — from zero prior training. One participant, Devasree N (97.92/100): "After this training, I attended an interview and the company told me I have all the eligibility to be employed."

Sanitation — Five Years of Waiting, Ended

The PLF building — where 21 SHGs hold monthly meetings — had toilets unused for five years due to a broken water supply. COROAT restored the borewell, installed a motor, laid pipelines, and renovated the toilets. Now fully operational every meeting day. A five-year indignity resolved in weeks, once it was seen.

Solar Street Lighting — Safety After Dark

Three locations long unsafe after dark — the temple area, graveyard, and school premises — now have solar street lights, installed and maintained by the Panchayat. Women and elderly residents described it simply: relief, at something that had quietly frightened them for years.
